An
interesting monograph on the social downside of road construction. On
the one hand, roads bring commerce, opportunities, and health care. On
the other, they bring prostitution and facilitate human trafficking, as
well as increasing the risk of sexually transmitted infection. This
well-written and even-handed document describes these risks, makes
suggestions, and raises the question of who bears the responsibility for
safety, security, and education when infrastructure is developed.
